The Hospice Chaplain is responsible for the provision of spiritual care services to patients and families/caregivers, either directly or through coordination of care with other spiritual counselors.

Responsibilities

•Participate in continuing education, departmental staff meetings, hospital committees and patient conferences to enhance the continuity of care.
•Provide compassionate support for hospice or palliative care patients and their family members.

Qualifications

•Master's in Theology or Divinity is required.
•Must have the ability to address spiritual care issues and concerns to all religious faiths.
•Ability to work within the Interdisciplinary Team as required.
•Ability to counsel patients and families and assist local clergy in rendering pastoral care.
•A positive, compassionate and empathetic approach with patients and families.
•A minimum of 1 unit of CPE training or other relevant experience within an accredited program (Required).
•1 year experience as a resident in Clinical Pastoral Education.
•Certified or eligible for certification as a chaplain by the APC, NACC or the NAJC (Preferred). Board certification must be obtained within 3 years.
•2 years’ experience, hospice bereavement counseling experience preferred.
•Skill in decision-making, planning, development and administration required.
•Master’s degree in Divinity Theology required. Experience with Word, Excel and email.
